Sorry for all the questions today.

I am the System Admin of a definity G3si.
Can anyone suggest any good courses here in the UK, I have ver..VERY little knowledge and need to learn as much as possible.
Is there any good books available?

Thanks in Advance.

John

You can start by looking at support.avaya.com. You'll find lots of documentation here.

For courses you can subscibe to and search for the courses you need.

cheers Brandaris ,

I have tried looking through the Avaya University, but it seems that the cources are aimed at intermediate lever, I am really a beginner.
Is there no "Idiots guide to Definity's"

Thanks in Advance

John

Hi Welshman,

If you check out support.avaya.com. (as mentioned by Brandaris) You should be able to find the "Little Instruction Booklets. These really are very useful for beginners.

I think there's about 3 in total.

And there's always this forum of course.....

lever.

Dont mention this forum, this is a god send.
I have 2 of the little instruction booklets.
Am I right to presume then, there is no Books actually available to buy? Seems strange.
Thanks for everyones help anyway, off to the support.avaya.com we go then.

Thanks in Advance

John

i would get a hold of avaya of your avaya rep he should be able to get a hold of the manuals avaya has available for your system.

Thanks, will have to give them a ring.
Will they give out another set, as i assume the previous sys admin has taken ours with him. (but he'll deny it so there nothing we can do about it)

Thanks in Advance

John

I have all of my manuals on the Documentation CD's (for both Definity and CMS). These cover all the manuals in the world for your version of Definity (including the Little Instruction Books). I like this alot since you can easily search for the word or phrase you need.

As for training, my first class was BTC158H - Basic Administrator Training. It's also available as a CD-ROM (BTC290M2), which is nice for a refresher course. This is a great beginner's course, they hold your hand a lot and explain the terminology, etc. Good even if you don't have any previous telco knowledge (which I didn't at the time!)

Good luck to you.....

Yeah the CDs are good and you can also download all the manuals as .pdf files from the aforementioned website. This means that you can search them for an error code or the like. I found the pdf that helped me the most was the definity system description. It describes the switch and its components from the ground up. If you mail me I may be able to find some more info on the certification track. John

Hey Welshman

We used Alison Gray from Altech Training Services at based in the North of England.

Her rates are very good and she is non-patronising!

Take a look.
