I am developing a ColdFusion web application and I need help designing the backend. I posted this same thread on another forum before noticing that this forum is more appropriate.
Overview:
I am developing a website that is centered on broadcasting live & onDemand Flash Video and mp3 files, and then selling them on DVD, CD or download. This translates into several tables with many relationships and I am uncertain how to go about designing my database.
Paticulars:
I have a large collection of mp3 files and flash video files that I would like to serve onDemand. These same files will also be sold seperately or as a set on DVD, CD or for download.
We are also going to be braodcasting live flash videos and mp3 files that will be archived for OnDemand retrieval. These encoded files will aslo be sold seperately or as a set on DVD, CD or for download.
In addition, some of the video and audio files that are available for onDemand streaming, DVD, CD and as downloads have accompanying book(s).
Data Drill Down
What I would like is for site visitors to be able to search by category, by CD, DVD, download, OnDemand video or OnDemand audio.
If a category is selected from the site menu, I would like for all of the series in that category to display with some indication of the formats they are available as (DVD, CD, download, OnDemand Audio, OnDemand Video).
If DVD, CD, download, OnDemand Audio, or OnDemand video is selected from the site menu I would like for all series in that format to display, also indicating what additional formats they are available as.
Details Page
If a series is selected from the category display (drill down) I would like the details page to have a description of the series and a list of any individual audio or video files available on demand. I would also like links to the other formats available for that series.
If a series is selected from the format display (drill down) I would like for a short description to display with a details relating to the appropriate format and links to the other available formats for that series.
Conclusion
I thought I would just add a conclusion because that was a mouth full.
Thanks for your pointer!
