I cannot get vm to email working on a 3.1.65 IPO with 3.1.22 VMPro. I have a valid account kflounders@companyname.com and a the SMTP server name smtp.companyname.com. I can send from the VMPro box using emailtester.exe, but cannot from the Voicemail. I have the SMTP ticked under the MAPI tab and verified that the remote exchange server allows relay on the ip address for the server, but it just won't work. Is ther a place where I can watch the vmpro try to send and get a rejection?

All settings are as listed above the account is valid and the SMTP server works from the freeware software using the same settings. The service was stopped and restarted.

It sounds like your SMTP gateway is simply rejecting the relay. Z

do you actually have that account in the account field for vm pro settings. also just a stupid question but vmail to email is turned on for the user. or are you using ims

ACA & ACS IPO Implementation

The account is valid and the Vm to Email is turned on. I would also suspect that the reject was happening, but when I use the freeware SMTP relay using the same settings on the VMPro server it works.

Your post above doesn't specifically say you set the settings in control panel under vm pro, you do mention the settings in the vm pro software. So are you sure you set these?

By default VMPro is using Mapi.
Are you sure you selected SNMP instead of Mapi? This is found not in control panel (only for setup the accounts) but in preferences of the VMProClient (VMPro configuration program)

If you want simple vm to email to work, you HAVE to set up the stuff in control panel. Plain and simple. ANd yes in VMpro you have to check SMTP.

So did he do it or not?

All the basics have been checked and rechecked. The control panel is set up properly and the the SMTP option in VMPro is ticked, not MAPI. Its all in the first post.

Change the server name to the IP address and hit the check then restart the service and try again. I have seen where the FQDN has caused problems.

Does your email account have a first name and last name? And when you choose it from the Email settings in control panel ,do you use the browse function to choose the user?
If so,voicemail pro will put the name in with a space and SMTP wont accept it. (it puts a + in place of the space)

Create the user without a last name, or type the whole address in (eg kflounders@companyname.com )

Customer moved email address to VM reception. Just found it.

SO when you hit the check button does the check succeed on the SMTP?
