I am trying to setup SMTP domain name sharing but we have some people that are sending e-mails to us and they are getting this message back...

The destination server for this recipient could not be found in Domain Name Service (DNS). Please verify the email address and retry. If that fails, contact your administrator. < HostName.DomainName.tld #5.4.0>

does this make sense to anyone?

Yeah well we have 2 MX records one with our ISP who handles our external email and one for our exchange server. Always been this way.

our ISP handles our external users who aren't in the office but have the same xyz.com domain as we do inside the office

so i followed the following article to setup SMTP domain name sharing

did Method 1 and did steps 1 through 5

everything seems to be working fine just have a few users reporting that when someone tries to send one of my users in the office an e-mail it comes back with

The destination server for this recipient could not be found in Domain Name Service (DNS). Please verify the email address and retry. If that fails, contact your administrator. < HostName.DomainName.tld #5.4.0>

doesn't happen all of the time just once and while it seems and it started happening after i did this
