Hi everyone.
I've just purchased an IBM eServer xSeries 235

Model - 8671-2AX
CPU: Intel Xeon MP 2GHz CPU (Dual CPU Capable)
RAM: 2GB RAM
HARD DRIVES: 3 x 36GB 10k SCSI HotSwap Hard Drives
RAID CARD: IBM ServerRAID-5i Raid Card
NETWORK: Dual Serial RS485 Lan + Gigabit Lan Port.

Question is when i go to install win server 2003 it replies that it doesn't recognize any hdd and reports that 1 hdd is offline and 2 are defunct.

Trouble is it came with no cdroms or docs so i'm flying blind.
I'm just going through Ibm's web pages but any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Much appreciated.
I've reset the defunct drives to ready status and i've two more 36gb hdd on the way to be added. so once i've updated the card via the link you've given me this will set up the array.

In case you're wondering i'll be using it initially to aid my mcsa/mcse course (hope 180 day eval' is enough) then set it up as a web server (my mate wants it as a games server)

Sorry to ask - I don't suppose you know where to download the server manager iso from?
Thanks again.

Once you get all the drives you are going to use you can create a raid array and then load the OS. You will need the device driver and do the F6 on boot up to install the driver which you can extract from the support CD or Application CD.

Or just use the server guide and it will do it all for you.

Serv raid application CD.

Server guide.

Sorry to post here but would the same downloads above work for an xSeries 330 server?

TIA

Thanks for your all your help.
I've got an exam coming up so once that's over i'll try out the above and let you know the results.
All the best.

For my IBM x330, the latest ServerGuide does not have any support. I need v7.0 or lower. Does anyone have a link to a v7.0 download as I cannot find it on the IBM website.

Just create your raid driver on diskette, see the books folder on the raidmanager CD for how to do that and press F6 on boot up to install the device driver. Provided you are installing windows.

After you created your raid array first of course.
