Hello imp gurus
I have a whole bunch of impromptu reports which all have 1 to 4 prompts. All of these prompts pull data from views.Because of this reason all of my reports take 15 seconds JUST TO BRING UP THE PROMPT.Is there any way this time can be reduced.Any suggestions.
Thanks
Neil

neil,

Depending on how dynamic the data is, it can be more efficient to create true tables based on the views, and then add indices to them. This can greatly speed up the time it takes to present the prompt. If the views are based on large table that are not indexed on the columns you need, it can cause an excrutiating delay in getting the prompt. If the data does change often, you can repopulate the tables via a procedure called by a scheduler tool.
