I'd like to have a simple nav button, say an arrow, pulse (flash on and off, preferably in a smooth pixelation), but have no idea how to go about it. I've seen it used before, even in the Director tutorial (!), but couldn't find or replicate the code. Help would be appreciated!

hmm, you could just a film loop that you switch in when needed.
Other ways would be to play with alpha doing alpha + 1 to fade in, -1 to fade out again.
yet another way would be to scale the object slightly up and down.
if you need something more detailed can you post more details on the effect you want.
