Help with patterns

How can I create my own high res patterns in photo shop 7? Every time I try the seems never macth. I need to make patterns for publication and dont want to use downloaded patterns for copy right reasons. But when I make my own they dont come out well. All I need is block or line type patterns shouldnt be this difficult Think I'm just missing something.

You don't say what vs. of PS!

If you have vs 7 or later, under Filters there is Pattern Maker. Just create your design, select Filters>Pattern Maker, make a selection from the pattern and clcik "generate".

When in doubt, deny all terms and defnitions.
