I'm helping a friend start a new business and I need to recreate his logo so that we can use it for his van. If someone could lead me in the right direction in recreating the partial ellipse it would be greatly appreciated. My illustrator is a little rusty but I think I can get through it with a little help.

help with partial ellipse

...you could use the pen tool, but the easiest way is to use the ellipse tool and create two ellipses one on top of the other, then use the pathfinder palette to remove top ellipse from bottom ellipse...so your left with just one curve shape...duplicate it and rotate it to form the other side...I would also put the logo in illustrator to use as a guide to get position and correct ellipse alignments.
