I have Win NT 4.0 on my work laptop with Securemote client on it for VPN access to our main office. I just purchased a Netgear 4 port RP114 Router...... I can get the laptop on my internal network and it gets an IP of 192.168.0.3 (nothing odd there). I can't get the VPN to work. I can connect to internet but no response from any work apps, not even simple telnet to our UNIX box. I get the Securemote password prompt and it says I'm authenticated but nothing.... I am forwarding ports 500 and 1723 on the router to 192.168.0.3

Any ideas???? I'm at a complete loss here.... even rebound the adaparts in Securemote......

Thanks!

Hi,

sorry I can't offer you help :-( but if your problem is about port forwarding with an RP114, I discovered a very similar problem:

I run an Apache Server (on 192.168.0.3) and every other computer in my LAN has access to the HTTP-sites.

I got an alias at to point to my network (yes, I used the provided IP which is 224.204...).

As using an RP114 Router, I followed the instructions on the Netgear.de homepage:
- Port forwarding for Port 80;
- switching the HTTP-Filter to forward...
(the RP114 has filter that disallow forwarding for ports 21,23 and 80 by default)

But still, when using the my alias, I always gain access to the websurface of the router (192.168.0.1) and not to my webserver (192.168.0.3)... so, most things seem to work - but not the essential port forwarding!

I precisly followed the instructions on the homepage - so, any ideas?

Thanks for your help,
Andy
