I am most familiar with the NEC 2000 series I. I now have a few customers with the series e. I have been studying the command manual for the e series to solve a problem. I need to restrict the number 9 or forward the 9 to another number.I believe i am close to understanding how. Any help would be most appreciated.

What is 9 used for? If it's for outgoing access, have you considered room cut off?

Thank you for the quick response. I am not familiar with room cut off. What I am attempting to do is force users to only use 8 to get out. 8 is forwarded to a service that records all conversations. Right now the users can use 9 or 8 to dial out.I would love to restrict 9 and make it inop. Thanks again

Use command 356X for outgoing call on a toll restrict and trunk route basis. (1201 and 356X)

In CMD 200, delete whatever 9 is assigned for.
EX: 200>9>xxx-ccc EXE. It's either set for LCR or a direct trunk route access.

Ok I have realized i cannot restrict 9 in 200 because the number 8 when pressed automatically dials 9 then a seven digit number to get dial tone to record all calls out. So 200 is out. Do you know how to program 7 or 10 digit numbers to numbers 1-9.

Ok

So if you truly want all calls to go via this number then the real fix is to do away with the access code of 8 and make 9 do what you want. However this is a little (read major) bit more complicated which is probably why the person who set up 8 did it that way.

It can be done and we can talk you through it but it will take some toing and froing of us asking you for info and working out the best way to achieve it. A qualified tech on site would cost, but would be less painful. It's up to you whether we take this further (I for one would willingly help) but if you aren't happy with programming you should consider your options.

If you want to do this on line then we need to know what 9 is set to in Cmd 200. So the command string would be 200 de 9 de

It would also be worth knowing if there is anything set in the 8A9000 io 8A9250 commands.

Do you have a command manual as it will make the explanation of commands easier.

You George are my new hero. Thanks for the much needed help.
