I was interested in knowing some of the ways other people minimize file size. I have several bitmaps in a graphic intensive movie and have not been able to decrease the size as much as I would like. Any tips or techniques would be appreciated. Thanks

the main thing I do is to make sure I never use any graphic more than once unless it is a symbol, I never use more than a couple fonts, Gradients are a bit heavy on file size so I try to stick to mostly solid colors, I usually pull my bitmaps and graphics into Fireworks or a similar editor and try to see if it is possible to use them at a lower quality setting.... instead of 100...say about 85 or 90 will decrease the file size dramatically, I make sure all photos are set as jpg and not gif...

About all I can think of right now... At worst you could always put groups of your bitmaps onto several different movies and use a LoadMovie action to load as needed. Ya' Gotta Love It!:)X-)

There is quite a few different things that you can do. I only use JPG's with them set to about 60% quality as this seems to reduce the file size considerably. Also it's worth remembering that using dotted lines, or indeed any line that is not solid can dramatically increase your file size. a 24Kb animation with four dotted lines was reduces to about 17K when I switched to solid lines. There are loads of other little tricks too. The best thing is to use the help file and search for "optimization" and you'll find a list of several ideas. Also using MP3 instead of wav and using only a small amount of sound and looping it. Anyway I hope that helps!
