HELP with MDE Files

I received a template written in Access 97 and saved as a MDE file. I have Access 2000. Access 2000 will not let me convert or enable this file. Is there a way to convert the ACESS 97 MDE file to ACCESS 2000?

I am not at home, where I have both 97 and 2000, but I believe you cannot convert the MDE. You need the original MDB file from which the MDE was made. You can convert a 97 MDB.
