Hope someone can help. I have (using Access97) a parent table (call it table A, for example) with several child tables (call them A1, A2, A3) for example. The relationships are set as one-to-many. I now have a main form with some data from the parent table near the top, and then three tabs on the form, each containing a subform for the child tables. When I'm working in a subform, it appropriately shows only the data related to the master record (following the one-to-many relationship). Now the problem is with entering new data on my subforms: I would like the linked field from the child table to automatically populate with the corresponding value from the parent field that it is linked to. However, it just comes up blank. What can I do? Any help is greatly appreciated...
Thanks,
Len

Base your tab subforms on queries that join the parent to the child, making sure your "output" dataset has the parent link field included in it.

If you set the master-child link connection corrctly in the forms (which it sounds like you have), you should be able to add a new child record, and have it adopt (so to speak..) the parent key you need.
