Help with Intruder Lockout

Hi,
I have been encountering a problem on my network. There are few people who are being locked out of their computers because of intruder lockout being locked. When i check the log it says that it was locked out from the same computer that the user uses.

The problem occurs even if the system is shut down and restared on a new day.

any thoughts!!

What are your settings? How many attempts before the user is locked out?

Are the users guessing at their passwords?

Suggest you increase the number of login attempts before the account gets locked.

FYG the account stays locked until unlocked by the administrator. Restarting will have no effect.

If there is no risk of malicious persons trying to log in from outside, you should be able to allow them 10 login attempts - even the klutziest user should be able to get it right in that many tries.

When they complain to me I always say it is a sobriety test (grin).

This could be a problem with the NetWare client. What version are you running and have you tried reinstalling it on the affected PCs? -----------------------------------------------------

Thanks guys.
First i have allowed user to make 3 mistakes before the account id locked up. But the problem is wierd. the user in the 3 cases are able to login but when they shutdown and restart their system they encounter the lockout.
We are investigating the Novell Version problem. At present we are running 4.83 with SP1 i think the 3 that are having the problem are not updated with the service pack. Shall so that and send you an email.
