Help with installing Mysql on freeBSD

Hi Mates,

I am newbie, trying to install Mysql 4.0 on FreeBSD 4.7 platform. I downloaded the standard version went through the instructions for no avail.

scripts/mysql_install_db
chown –R root .
chown –R mysql data
chgrp –R mysql .
bin/mysqld_safe –user=mysql &

But still mysql is not up and running

hi

i suggest you to unistall this package
i try to install it from ports

it'll download,install and run
