Hey guys,

Help, trying to turn on all options for the autocomplete but all are greyed out apart from Use Autocomplete for web addresses, been to internet options > advanced> and turned on the use Inline Autocomplete but still no luck.

Is there some key in the registry that holds the turning on/off of the autocomplete. Please help as I need to turn it on.

Operating System is W2K professional.

A second theory of mine is :- is it because the first time you use Internet explorer it asks do you want to use the autocomplete, is it because I clicked no?? help!!!

zerocool24,

Maybe it can be fixed by resetting it completely.

Click Start, point to Programs, and then click MS DOS Prompt.

Type the following command:

c:\windows\system\pstores.exe -install
NOTE: This command replaces the correct ProtectedStorage registry key.

Quit all programs and restart the computer.

If that doesn't work:

After clicking the Clear Forms and Clear Passwords buttons,
backup the registry and/or export the following keys:
go to Start>Run, type regedit. Navigate to:

HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\IntelliForms\SPW

and delete any encypted entries that are listed in the right pane window. Then sutdown and restart.

The Op system is W2K pro and thus pstores.exe is not found, its not in winnt either as well

The registry key is not there as well!!!11

help,

My fault, I should have looked closer.

Have you checked HKEY_CURRENT_USER?

You could also try renaming the Protected Storage System Provider under your profile in the registry.

AutoSuggest Does Not Function as Expected on All Web Pages

------------------------------------------------------------
The information in this article applies to:

Microsoft Internet Explorer version 6 for Windows 98
Microsoft Internet Explorer version 6 for Windows 98 Second Edition
Microsoft Internet Explorer version 6 for Windows Millennium Edition
Microsoft Internet Explorer version 6 for Windows NT 4.0
Microsoft Internet Explorer version 6 for Windows 2000

------------------------------------------------------------

SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Internet Explorer, the AutoSuggest feature may not function as expected in all Web page input boxes. Internet Explorer may not suggest any previous entries, even though Intelliforms has been activated.

NOTE: This behavior can occur through any means of access to the AutoSuggest feature: if you type the first letter of a word or phrase, double-click the input box, or press the DOWN ARROW key.

CAUSE
This behavior can occur because some Web pages do not allow AutoSuggest to recall previously typed inputs.

NOTE: AutoSuggest works as expected in most user input boxes.

STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
