I have a GPO to enable a screensaver and autolock after 60 minutes. I have two PCs where the screensaver comes on but does not autolock. I verified using gpresult that the policy is being applied. Also if the user logs on to another PC, the autolock does work.

I thought the problem was power management turning off the monitor before the screen saver would kick in, but that was not the solution.

Any ideas?

Within the Group Poliy Manangement MMC run the Group Policy Results for that machine and that user. It should tell you if there are any conflicts in GPO's.

Also, you may want to run gpupdate /force on that machine and reboot if necessary. Check the Event Log for SceCli references for a good policy update or Event ID's 1058 & 1030 for a bad policy Update.

Group Policy Results show the policy is enforced OK and I see plenty of SceCli events so all looks good there.

When I even look at the screensaver tab on the PC itself, it is greyed out with the password protect box checked, which shows the GPO is working.

But for whatever reason, the password protect just isn't working. I think its gotta be something locally with the PC.
