I have a standard Income statement using percentage of revenue calculated using CBR (Change base row for % allocation)

I am applying a reporting tree based on departmental segment.

I need to come up with a way to do the following:

'Then figure out how to calculate the % of revenue that each department represents of the whole revenue pie and multiply the total expenses by that number.'

If we have $100 of revenue and department x contributed 25% of that, then Department x is responsible for 25% of the total expenses.

In crystal I'd use variables etc. In Frx I am at a complete loss on how to do a calculation at the department segment level based on the Summary of all units level.

Thanks for any assistance.

Also, unlike Crystal, I cannot locate any 'FRx' forums or user groups anywhere. What few discussions I've found are subsets either here or at microsoft and discussion is extremely limited. Do any exist? Ggogling brings up practically nothing.

In the row format you can specify a unit from the Tree.

Set up a row for each unit in the tree and make the rows non-printing. Enter the Revenue Accounts for each of the rows.

Have a calculation (CAL) row for each unit using the dept's revenue row (as above) divided by total Revenue for % of Revenue for each dept.

Then you can use the same rows to calculate your expense allocation.

Please let me know if this helps or if you have any more questions.

Ah, ok I think I have what your saying.

50 revenue 4???
100 revenue x department 4???-15 <no print>
120 revenue y department 4???-25 <no print>
130 revenue z department 4???-35 <no print>
150 %revenue x cal @100/@50
170 %revenue y cal @120/@50
190 %revenue z cal @130/@50

etc?

Sweet. So basically I've defined a variable 'row'?

Thanks alot for your assistance

Yes you have the righ tidea. However if the 4??? is your account mask as defined in the Tree, then using 4???-15 will not work.

In the row format you need to select the reporting unit from the Tree in the Related Rows/Unit column:

Row Related Norm Prnt Col Link
Code Description Rows/Unit Bal Ctrl umn toGL

50 Revenue 4???
100 Revenue X DepartmentX NP 4???
120 Revenue Y DepartmentY NP 4???

150 these you have correct
170

Row 100 will have the amounts from GL account 4??? but only for the unit DepartmentX from the Tree.

To test it, take out the "NP" and put it back in later.

Barb.

Thank you so much for the clarification.

My reporting tree is set up like this: ????-10

Now I know why I was getting the error when I poked around:)

I'll try again on Tuesday.

Thanks again,
