Help with firmware issue with Windstream Speedstreem 4200 Gateway

Well, last night I was fed up with my internet always freezing and hanging up. Taking about 3 minutes to pull up google so I want e-sleuthing to find out the problem.

Well, I downloaded updated firmware from siemens website thinking that would fix the problem. It didnt, now my modem will not even connect and I cannot even pull up a page and what not.

Can anyone help me resolve this issue. It is kind of pathetic I call my ISP and they just tell me to reset my modem and that does not help.

We will need more info, who is your isp's for starters, Most isps use custom flashs in there modems if you flashed it, it will need extra programing for your isp. Been there done that! I have flashed a couple with web downloads and was able to reprogram them to work, but if you push the reset button you have to reprogram them again each time.

I see you said it the title windstream, what state ? most all of windstream uses a vc of 0/35 that is vpi=0 vci=35 I flashed a 4200 with a flash from siemens a couple weeks back and it defauled to 8/38, If you login to the 4200 and select setup PPP it should say PPPoE 0/35 if not the programing will have to be changed. let me know I should be able to talk you though it. I am a network tech for windstream I get calls to help with 4200 & Linksys G routher programing, most of my work is on DSLAM turn ups and keeping the T-CXR's feeding the DSLAM's up. With over 40 site and lighting season comeing I will be busy.
