Help with failed upg from 1.1 to 3.1

I recently attempted an upgrade for an MAS/MSS 1.1 to 3.1. We were approved by the MMTAC based on the planning forms/DCT/backup verification tool et al.

The LDAP databased failed to come up on the reboot after my 2 attempts to restore translations. An AYAYA tech told me at one point that the COS field was blank. I was able to bust it back down to 1.1 using the same restore DVD.

Has anyone run into this?
 
Further on this...this is an in-place upgrade reusing the S3400's w/ new MAS hard drive.
 
Unfortunately I have found that the pubvt tool will not catch all errors.

When you are doing a restore on the customer data do you get any errors during this process?

Yes...the restore fails near the end with a reference to a post-restore script referencing AudixCD.
 
Maybe you could use Mailbox Manager to verify the COS settings. You could also check for any hardware errors on the S3400 server as well.

Sorry for the late update.
Attempted upgrade again on advice from AVAYA T3 (offering direct support) and a newer (?) copy of the backup verification tool. It failed again when restoring the database on 3.1 MSS. AVAYA rqst'd the DVD so they could clear the errors. Another tech will be using this disk to run the upgrade (I have moved from the vendor to a client position recently, but I will touch base to find out how it goes on 3rd attempt).
