Hello all! great forums here.. I have already found many answers here.
I am stuck trying to get my epson u220b that came with my pc america setup working with my aloha setup. I have set the dip switches dsw1= 3,5,6 on and dsw2= only 2 on. I think i may need to do some configurating in the printers web interface. As this was just a printer on a network and now i am connecting it directly to my term2 com port4 on my aloha setup.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! i did do the test page by holding down feed+on it didnt give me a baud rate but i did check the aloha.config file and the baud is set to 9600 there.
The errors the terminals give me go from the printer is out of paper sometimes to the printer is not communicating.
I am using some old possiflex terminals and aloha 5.28 something i believe. I can get more details if needed.
Thanks again, Jeff

Check the con port setting on the terminal
9600 even 1 and 8. Xonxoff and under advanced tab uncheck FIFO buffers.

Cheers,

Hey Coorsman and thanks alot for the help!

Ok so i checked all those settings and they were as you said they should be. Also i went and got the old printer u220b also that originaly came with the aloha system and it works perfectly. I have made sure the dip switches were the same and they are dsw1=3,5,6 on and dsw2= only 2 on.

So im really thinking its something in the configuration on the printer side (web interface)

Also while you are here i am now realizing there is going to need to be some tweaking to get my tm88iv to work on my new terminals. They use USB to plug into these new terminals. What choice should i select other than com1-9? lpt? rt? rs-485?

And thanks again so much!
Jeff

Ok so i lost a serial to ethernet dongle and started looking into it and it seems i might be able to use these (u220b's)printers via network instead of via serial port.. am i making sense? From what i have been reading i need a software called opos pos software??? Could you possibly help me on this route instead..?

ok so i got my network printers working.. New question :) hehe

when i ring up a beer the ticket that prints behind the bar has a lot of excess/blank space that will eat up a roll of paper fast... anyone know how to adjust this..?

Thanks again!
Jeff

see settings on aloha manager>store settings>maintenance under printing-chits group>chit style. set the leading and trailing lines to zero
