Is there a way to create a report in crystal and then export it to Word and then print it in booklet format in Word? I know you can create a booklet in Word and print it out as a booklet but everytime I create the report in Crystal and export it I can't get the right margins. I need a two column report with name name
address address
phone phone
kids kids
and I need to print it so that it will fold in the middle and be a booklet??
Any help would be greatly appreciated! You guys are great!

Exporting to Word is a bit tricky to get exactly right so I would suggest two possibile ways forwards.

1. IF you are using CRv8.5 then create the report as you want it in Crystal and then export it as a PDF for printing. If you don't have CRv8.5 but have a PDF writer, this may still be possible.

2. Export the names, addresses etc as a CSV file and use it to mail merge with Word.

Steves CSV solution sounds like the most worthy here.

One thing to remember with the CR and exporting is that the actual report (.rpt) is an image. This is why some formats (PDF, HTML, RTF) are nicer to use and Excel can be extremely problematic (it is cell based).

The (image) will go out in WYSIWYG format and does not lend itself well to manipulation.

Word export is much better if you use the new dll's, see Word export, thread767-526388 for details. This only applies for Crystal 8.5, I cannot advise on other versions.

As for the matter of columns and margins, I'm not clear which aspect is the difficulty. If it's a matter of having details from two records on the same line, using address and next(address) etc. should do it. The trick would be suppressing every second detail line, but something clever with counts could probably do it.

If the problem is line-up, use rulers. And remember that text can be left-justified, thus:
address address
phone phone
kids kids

(Much easier to get it right on Crystal.

It sounds like you want a multi-column report.

Right click the details section and select format section->Format with Multiple Columns->Layout and set the width to 3.5 or so.

As for exporting, apply the latest patch, and if Word doesn't format well, export to RTF and open that in Word.
