Hi,
I'm a newbie. I downloaded the file from dmoz.org to use the odp so I can make my site a portal. I put the files in the cgi-bin folder but get a 500 error. Does anyone know where I can get a tutorial in very basic terms on how to set one up? I use FP to create the site. When I move the files, I don't publish, just open the website and copy/paste via windows explorer. Sure would appreciate some advice on this. Is there a place that would take one thru the process step by step? thanks all.

Server 500 errors refer to misconfiguration of the script. What does that mean? It means that the script is looking for a package or file that is located within the directory structure and you have not told it where to look. Lots of scripts come with configuration files that allow you to set server specific variables. Such as the path to the script, mail program, template files and so on.

Open the main script file and look for these types of varibles. The Script should come with a little documentation to help you out.

Let me know if you need more help.

hope this helps.

oh, if you are on a *nix server everything is case sensitive!
