i have a cable modem connection at home and would like to have my cisco router between the cable modem and my lan. The router is a cisco 1720 with a T1 wic. There is a built-in FastEthernet0 port as well. I have configured the router but the Serial interface is showing as (looped) and i can't get it to ping anything. My cable service bases the connectivity also on MAC address.

I am new to programming cisco routers so any advice would be greatly appreciated. Can it be done? Or do i need a second ethernet wic?

Thanks!

You will need to purchase the WIC-1ENET card which adds an addtional ethernet interface to the 1720.

Hope this helps.
