Hello,

I was wondering, whether anyone would be able to help me with a particular problem - I'm having.

I have recently installed an Livelink 9.2 instance, with all of the basic modules which have been provided on the CD.

I have a third party system, which I have setup to connect to my Livelink instance. My problem is, I do not have any experience with LAPI. I have installed the Livelink LAPI 9.01 and it's placed a number of C+ codes and DLL's into a seperate folder. I've noticed that the DLL's I will require for the third party system - are within the LAPI folder, but what do I need to do now?

I'm currently using IIS4 and any help you may be able to provide, would be grateful.

P.S I currently do not have access to the Knowledge Base at Opentext.

Thanks.

LAPI is just a set of API's that replaces any GUI action on the livelink instance.LAPI is offered as .net ,vb,java files.Any client talking to your livelink instance will use
the LAPI files to get a connection to your livelink instance
and do some action. As other users in the forum complain using LAPI as a blackbox is not possible at the time. You will need a rudimentary knowledge of livelink, enterprise, personal work space permission etc to make use of LAPI.One more thing you need to use the API's and write your own modules/code to do anything with LAPI.The API's just provide a basic set of actions.I have written some stuff in which are pretty rudimetary things. My advantage of using LAPI is I have been using Livelink for some number of years now so pretty much I know the functionality .I would advise programmers using LAPI to expect nothing (This may very well change since opentext has kind of listened and may come up with better documentaion etc in the near future)as
it is pretty much frustrating for the beginner.
