This problem has stumped two forums already...

I have a large number of PDFs that I want to convert to JPGs (after cropping, resizing, etc). Naturally a batch action is the weapon of choice. So I record the action and then try to batch it. The problem is that whenever it tries to open one of the PDFs I get the "Rasterize" dialog box and I have to manually click OK/hit return. Having to do that sort of ruins the whole batch concept. Any way I can force PS to use the previous settings and skip teh dialog box?

FWIW, I am using PS7 on WinXP.

Thanks!

Hi,

With nothing open, start recording your action. Then open a .pdf and hit ok at the dialog box. Then stop recording the action. Do you see anything as being done yet in the dropdown in the actions palette under your action. If not, then you won't be able to do this. If it showing that you rasterized it then you most likely can do this. But you will have to start recording, then open the .pdf, then do everything else and then stop recording.

Try that out, does it work?

Hope this helps!

When I record an Open the details of the rasterization do appear in the action. When I run the action it opens the same pdf (obviously) and DOES skip the annoying popup. I then tried it on a couple PDFs from the file browser through automate and the annoying pop up is back.

But yes, the open does work on the referenced file. Is there a way I can switch that to a more generic so it effects all the files in the automated version?

Thanks!!!

Hi,

I think this might not be possible to do if the popup is coming back. You need to somehow reference the rasterization as a general effect to apply to any file opened, but I don't know how to do that or if it's even possible to do in any current version of photoshop.

I can't wait for them to have programable actions for loops and stuff like this to make life much easier. I'll try some things out with some of the .pdf's I have and see if I can get it to work for me and then post back to you.

Hope this helps!

Thanks!

Are there any good sources for Photoshop Scripting tips? I'd hate to have to go to javascript, but if it works I'm willing to try.

hmmmmmmmmmm.

Ok, looks like there already is scripting support. I never knew about any of this.

Here is the Photoshop 7 scripting guide:
More info here:
But I beleive you have to download the add on for this and you have to be a member of the ASN (Adobe Solutions Network)

Here is even more info:

If you are using a mac you can download this scripting plug-in:
If you find a windows version of that can you let me know, I'd be very interested in getting into that.

Hope this helps!

Thanks. I'll start trying to digest the manual soon. I wish there were an easier way, but this is enough of a potential timesaver I'm willing to bite the bullet
