Hi hope someone can help me. I have 50 x 9640 and 9650's that were previously used on a Tenovis (Avaya) I55. They have completely different software. I need to change the software for IP Office. I have tried modifying the 96xxi55 and adding to the IP Office but cant get to upgrade software.

What IP Office hardware and version are you using??

What is your HTTP file server????

I am using 8.044 IPO 500V2. I am trying to use the IPO as the http and tftp server.

The ipo will not act as a HTTP server just a relay if you go into the manager stystem tab and click in the file server box and hit F1 it will tell you what you need to do, you also need to ensure your working directories are correct in manager.

Avaya MV-Iptel is a pretty good proven app that will serve i belive upto 50 handsets at once.

Again check the above help file to gain instruction on how to use external sources.

Monty, if the IPO is the DHCP server and HTTP file server is set to Lan1 then it will act as the HTTP file server.
When the phones get DHCP from a server then it must be set to the Lan1 IP address as HTTP server.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

I do have the IPO providing DHCP.

So the phones have the IPO LAN port IP address as thier file server??? Are these phones statically assigned or DHCP. If DHCP, what do you have in your DHCP scope options for Option 242??

If these things are set correct, it should be plug and play, unless the i55 versions have somehting different about them (which I have no clue, didn't even know they were useable on that system!!!)

Having said that, I would use a separate HTTP server, certainly for 50 phones. I usually use IIS on a customer server, install Manager on the server and either change the defualt web site path to /Manager or create a virtual directory and point that to /Manager. IIS is a million times better than either Manager or the SD card.

By default either Manager or the SD card should have everything there to get these going.

just got an ip9760g for an ipo 8.1(43) it regsters but does not work ( no dial tone, nothing on screen ) and the system monitor tells comes up as unsupported classmark. I have been told this model only works with Avaya Aura is this correct as on the Avaya website it clearly says 9600 series phone work with both Aura and IPO Platforms ???????

only some 96xx phones are supported n the IPO. that isn't one of them.

Taken from from the knowledge base:

9600 Series (6.0+)
9620L, 9620C, 9630G, 9640, 9640G, 9650, 9650C

96x1 Series (8.0+)
9608, 9611G, 9621G, 9641G

Are you an end user or an IP Office Business Partner Engineer??

jamie77 - The I55 software is totally different and phone behave differently. The 50 phones are not going to be used on same site. It is from a site that I recently changed out to an IP Office and used 1608 and 1616 phones at. But I have been able to previously change software on phones with a I55 running and phones connected. But this I55 was struck by lightning and there are no longer any running Avaya Integral 55 sites running any more. I will try an external http server and see. What I suspect is that I need to put something in the 2 x txt files but for the life of me I have tried a few changes but cant get it right.

jamie77 - Yes I am an IPO engineer.

You should be able to do this.
I have seen some I55 and I33 systems yesterday :)
Nice rock solid PBX's

Boot the phone and look what it is asking for.

They normally look for the 96xxupgrade.txt first, then at the end of this file it tells the phone to go for the 46xxsettings.txt file. Not sure what is in the 9xxi55 file.

If the phones are hard coded to look for the 96xxi55 file instead of the 96xxupgrade then that is your issue. Wireshark will tell you this.

Thanks for the help guys it was actually quite an easy fix. Hehe. I don't know why I didn't think it first. All I did was make a copy of the 96xxupgrade.txt file and rename it to 96xxI55upgrade.txt copied it too the SD card on the system and reset phone and it changed software from I55 version to the IP Office software. Awesome I bought the phones as a trade in for really cheap, so this will be a nice bonus to be able to sell them at decent profit. :)
