help wirh .htaccess

please help me here with this...

i need to use "DirectoryIndex" on .htaccess so that the default file can be changed....

is possible to do this:

DirectoryIndex cgi/test.cgi ?

so that the file can be opened in other directory ?

Yes it is, I do it all the time. Take a look at the override directive to make sure you have the rights to change DirectoryIndex from an .htaccess file.
