I have recently installed Win 2000 Pro (server for a two pc network) For no reason it powers down before it even gets all the way into windows. I also cannot get in via safemode as it powers down. It is like you turn the power button off every time. I have tried this over 20 times with no luck?

Could this be a bad power supply or a HD failure?

Any help is GREATLY appreciated!

Thanks
Kurt

Try replacing your Power supply. May also be CPU overheat that causes the shutdown. Check the bios for CPU regulation. James Collins

Were you ever able to get Windows to start, or did this just start happening?

How did you install Windows? I've seen this type of thing when a Windows system drive is cloned (through Ghost or whatever) to a different system without a Sysprep.

Any new hardware or drivers? Another time I've had a W2K client spanteanously re-boot it was caused by a printer driver, but it happened sporatically and not on startup.

What is it doing right before it resets? Have you tried boot logging?

Good luck. Don

I did a clean install of Win 98 and then upgraded with Win 2000 Pro. It has worked fine for a month now and then all of the sudden this.... There has been nothing added or changed since. My only guess is the power supply. I will give that a try.

Thanks
