I inherited a system that was set up to restrict long distance phone calls by dialing FEATURE 68 and a 6 digit code. We recently changed our phone company and had to change our switch from DMS-100 to NI-2. I Dont know why this should have affected anything but now some sets will accept the long distance code and will dial just fine while others will only return a busy signal. Looking at the set programming they look identical as far as the set restrictions and filters go. I can't find anything in the install/programming manual referencing the feature code 68.
Any suggestions ??

Feature 68 is for use with COS (class of service) passwords. Class of service passwords are set up so that individuals can call out on restricted phones. IE., a manager could use the warehouse folks phone to make a LD call even though the set is normally restricted to local only calls.

If certain people's telephone sets need to have long distance calls allowed, then I would set it up in restrictions not with COS passwords.

Is it always certain sets? Have you tried it yourself from those sets?

Well, thanks... but that is apparently not the problem. The phones do not appear to be responding to programming. I have changed the restriction filters on my set to 00 or "no restrictions" but the set still reports a restricted call for the standard set of restrictions. ( 1-900, 976, etc.)And it still will not dial long distance.

Check the filters on the lines themselves. Perhaps they are restricted also.
