I am wanting to know if anyone has created this or not, or at least can point me in the right direction. I created a helpdesk database for trouble tickets. I am wanting to page a tech support person from within the database. I just dont know where to start or how to do it. thanx in advance
Have a look at
There is a sample vb project that comes with you VB which
demonstrates how to send mail with VB. The project will be in your
Program files\Microsoft Visual Studio\MSDN\99APR\1033\Samples\vb98\misc\vbmail.vbp.
This info was copied from a posting in the VB forum : Sending Mail with VB...
I think he(she) wants to page a Pager if so
you need something that looks at the Com port
VB Pro comes with a Comm Example
you have to add an .OCX to your project
It can be done in Access if VB is installed on the same machine.

Then copy the MSCOMM.OCX to the machine that's running the Access database
Of course you need a modem or modem sharing on your network.
I have some code somewhere I created a VB app that lets you pass the pager number, the call back number and the com port as command line parameters
If you want it let me know I don't have it here with me.
