Gentlemen;
I have a B50 running 5.1 ML04 that has a Digi C/Con 128 Port Async Card installed in Slot 1 as well as an IBM GXT120P Video in Slot 2. I've got a keyboard/mouse also plugged in. I wish to set this up so I can boot and have the LFT & direct attached kbd be my system console. While I was connected via tty0 through s0 I used smit to change my console to /dev/lft0 which required a reboot. Following that the boot sequence seems normal but just when the the boot messages should start appearing on the console display the LED displays a momentary C32 then goes blank and NOTHING appears on the LFT display and the pc connected to s0 is inoperative as well.

Be advised that while I have lots of AIX experience, NONE of it has been with graphic displays. I intent to control this system through a KVM along with a cluster of other servers and that's why I desire the LFT/kbd console.

I've scoured usenet/googlegroups, my AIX printed books, etc and finally come to the conclusion that its time to call in the "experts".

Can anyone please provide some assistance with this and advise as to how I would be able to accomplish this feat?

ps: I don't have any X installed but according to my AIX manuals it is not supposed to be required if just using the LFT as a character console.

Help please? [sadeyes]

Thanks

What does

lsdev -Cc adapter

show? Is the GXT120P Available or Defined?

Does cfgmgr run clean?

Thanks for responding gilsont;

Yes, the adapter is available and cfgmgr ran just fine. What I ultimately determined is that I had to use an ancient actual IBM keyboard plugged into the B50 for the lft to work. Go figure. I was hoping that by now IBM would have eliminated that archaic requirement.

Thanks again.

Bob
