Hello, I just got my new laptop and installed FC3 on it. Now the problem is, I can't seem to find a Linux driver for the video card, which is ATI Mobility Radeon X600.

I checked both the manufacturer's website and ATI's website, but they do not have a Linux driver for this machine! Can someone suggest what I should do? This default 800x600 resolution is killing me (giving me a headache).

Thanks

If you speak about the console resolution, the official ATI driver wouldnt help out any since (afik) ATI only provides DRI for X and related stuff, no framebuffer driver or something.
Try booting with like vga=317, vga=788, etc.. i dont know how accurate those few modes listed there are, when i search, i find all kinds of vga modes.
booting with vga=ask (or that in /etc/lilo.conf) and entering 'scan' to scan your hardware for compatible resolutions may show up some higher res'es to select from than the base.

As for X, guess the standard 'ati' driver doesnt work? even if using FBDev?
You could still give the original all-in-one ATI driver a try, who knows...

. Mac for productivity
.. Linux for developement
... Windows for solitaire

Hi, thanks for the reply xmb.

Basically if I try another driver on the list, it won't even let me back into X, prompting an error saying the graphics is not recognized or something. The default resoultion of 800x600 is the highest I can get.

With ATi.com or XFree-ati drivers..? XFree also provides a 'radeon' driver to try.
