I was hoping someone would be able to explain to me how a voice block works? I am very familiar with patch panels but these blocks are a mystery to me. My interest has been piqued because a friend has asked me to install a prefab unit in his house for him which has a voice block for the incoming lines which feeds then into a patch panel (the documentation with the unit sucks). The reason for having both eludes me - why not wire directly to the patch panel?
If it helps, I am looking at the block now which has 10 pairs of punchdowns numbered 1 through 0 on the lower row. In the very middle a "black bar" is printed. The same number of punchdowns are on the top row but they are not labelled. All but two pairs of punchdowns are "blacked out" where numbers appear below. The non-blacked out onese are one on either side of the middle "black bar".
Any info would be appreciated.
Cheers
