Help . . . Updates for Acrobat Standard 7.0.0 will not load.

Hello, I have Acrobat Standard 7.0.0 on a CD. Everything installs fine, but when I attempt to UPDATE, Acrobat finds the updates online, but refuses to load them. There is no error message, just constant reminders that updates are ready. But they won't install when I indicate that YES, I want the updates. Not having the updates is causing problems with Firefox, so I would like to get this fixed. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the application three times, even used Windows Installer Clean Up, but it just won't do it.

Anyone know how to force the updates?
