We want to allow all smtp traffic to by-pass a legacy proxy server hosted on NT Server 4.0, between a firewall and core switch which connects to the Exchange server. We tried uninstalling the proxy client from the Exchange server but that stops all incoming email traffic coming through the firewall. Not good! Do we need to edit the Proxy server settings to stop proxy server from listening to the smtp/port 25 in addition to removing the proxy client from Exchange Server? MX record would be editied to point to the Exchange server instead of the Proxy server. Do we need to stop and restart any services on the Proxy or Exchange servers?
Also, do we need to delete all of the Wspcfg.ini files off the Exchange server?
Any advice much appreciated!
