Help understanding liveupdate vs. client update

I have 1 nav server running enterprise 8.1. the clients are 8.5. I'm not understanding the liveupdate process. Ideally the one server would make contact with symantec for the updates and then the clients pull from the parent server. But I'm not sure if this is happening.

If I right click the server on the left side of the console, the properties say it is pointing to symantec. It says this for the clients also. Whatever I put in for the server gets inherited to the clients. Do the clients always pull from the parent server? What is the best way to check this?

You are right, however you need to right click the Server then choose > all tasks > Virus definition manager and configure your clients here. Once that is set the Manager will get its updates from Symantec and the clients will get theres from there parent server.
