hi, in my company we use *2 <auth code> 09 <phone number> to make phone calls.
We assign CLASses to Auth codes using LD 88, these classes are 1 for local and cellular calls, 2 for long distance domestic calls and 3 for long distance international calls.
Ive been asked to create a new CLAS for local calls only.
Can you give me some hints as for what to read to be able to create the new CLAS? TIA.

Ps. ive been reading BARS 101 and already got the BARS related listings.

Here is something I hope can help you out, a lot of will/may not pertain to your needs but may point you in the direction you need. Good luck

Authorization Code Set-up (revised 8-21-2006)

First you have to log into the switch and gather all existing password data.
Second we have to build the authorization code block (CLS)
Third we have to build the “authcodes” that will serve in the CLS
We have to decide what to do at the set level,

Log into the switch
Now go to LD 22
REQ: prt
TYPE: pwd
PWD2: (this is the second level password you should have changed early on, XXXXM2)
NOTE Level 1 XXXXM1
Level 2 XXXXM2
XXXX equals the first 4 letters of the site’s city name.

Now go to LD 21
REQ: prt
TYPE: pwd
(Screen should read type:pwd_data)
CUST: 0
PWD2: XXXXM2
(We are looking for the SPWD –secure data password- if it is not we will have to build it in LD 15)

If you need not get the SPWD from above then we now go to LD 15
REQ: chg
TYPE: pwd
CUST: 0
SPWD: (enter 4 digits and be sure to annotate these for future use)

Continue to hit enter until you return to REQ:

Now go back to LD 21 and prt the PWD
You should now see the 4 digits you just entered from LD 15

We are ready to start building the authorization codes. Keep several things in mind here. TGAR and NCOS will be affected, chances are the Ambassador and DCM or the entire Executive Office staff will not want to use AUTH codes. Also that you need to set up several levels of access for the codes (Class)

NCOS:
1 On switch calls
2 Local calls
3 Local, cell calls
4 Local, cell and national long distance calls
5 Local, cell, national long distance and international long distance calls

TGAR:
1 PTT access
2, 3 and 4 other local carriers or tie lines
5 IVG
(There may be several organizations as tenant groups that pay for their own IVG lines, so there would need to be different TGARs for them from the normal Dept of State IVG pool lines and the Executive office may have 1 reserved just for their use also)

CLAS 0 with an NCOS of 3 and a TGAR of 1 with the auth code can make calls locally or to cell phones and national long distance only. (this is provided the phone sets are built as NCOS 1 and TGAR 1. If the phone set has an NCOS of 5 and a TGAR of 5 the auth code is not necessary for that phone to be able to make IVG and International calls).

LD 88
REQ: new
TYPE: aub
CUST: 0
SPWD: (enter the 4 digit spwd you may have had to create)
ALEN: (auth code length, how many digits do you want code to be? (At least 4)
ACDR: yes (for cdr output)
AUTHCOD_ALRM: just hit enter
RANR: just hit enter
ACLE: enter
BRST: enter
RTRY: enter
CLAS: 0
COS: ctd
TGAR: 1 (you should have this worked out on paper before hand)
NCOS: 3(you should have this worked out on paper before hand)
CAC: enter
CAC_CIS: enter
AUTO: yes
SECR: (this is the spwd you created)
NMBER: 1-50000 (number of auth codes for this class you want created)
CLAS: 0
Enter back to REQ

REQ: prt
TYPE: aut
CUST: 0
SPWD: (the 4 digit spwd)
CODE: enter

The switch will now generate however many auth codes you requested, this should now come back to REQ:

Each of these auth codes for CLAS 0 has CTD the TGAR you specified and the NCOS you specified. These auth codes will now over ride any phones class of service.

AUTH CODE BLOCK
CLS COS TGAR NCOS
000 CTD 1 3

Auth codes = 01001
63134
42681 So on and so forth

Each set probably has a CLS of AUTU. This is the default entry and means this set can use any auth code to dial out, if you want this set not to be able to dial out at all use AUTD.

Repeat the process for other CLAS that may be needed. You don’t need to build too many for each CLAS level needs.

We do not issue the auth codes. Once we create the CLAS levels and the codes we print them up and give to the IMO/IPO and they will pass them out to individuals for their calling level requirements.

To delete any auth codes you go back to LD 88
REQ: out
TYPE: aut
CUST: 0
SPWD: enter your 4 digit spwd
CODE: enter the auth code you want to delete
CODE: enter the next code you wish to delete, if finished just hit enter
Should now go back to REQ:

Each phone set probably has AUTU in the class of service; this is the default value. This means this TN can use any auth code to dial out. So, for any from any set you can pick up the handset, dial the auth code access (1 then 6), the auth code then the normally dialed number.

If you want to set up specific auth codes for specific sets do the following:

LD 20
REQ: prt
TYPE: dnb
CUST: 0
DN: enter the 4 digit extension you wish to change
DATE: enter
PAGE: enter
DES: enter
TN 006 0 00 00 KEY 01 DES TEST 20 SEP 2005
(2016)
TN 006 0 00 01 KEY 00 MARP DES TEST1 19 SEP 2005
(2016)

The switch will print the TN block for each DN. A single DN may be on more than one TN as in the example above. There are 2 TNs for this extension number. You want the TN with the MARP.

REQ: chg
TYPE: 2016
TN: 006 0 00 01
ECHG: no
Down come down to
CLS: AUTR (AUTR is auth code restricted and you would define which auth codes this set will be able to use. AUTD is auth code denied and this set will not be able to use any of the auth codes.)
MAUT: yes (this allows you to assign a particular auth code to this set)
SPWD: enter the 4 digit spwd
AUTH: x nnnn (x is the range (how many) and nnnn is the auth code you want this set to use., to delete the auth code you have to use upper case X in front of the auth code.
Continue through until you come back to REQ

You will want to save all your changes you now do a data dump.
LD 43
EDD

This should now be sync up with OTM. So highlight the TN you just changed and do a sync/retrieve .
OTM should always match up with what is in the switch.
If the phone set has an NCOS or TGAR that is equal to or higher than the type call it wants to make, the auth code can be by passed.

SPRE code to make call using auth code is 1 then 6, you have told the switch you are entering and auth code, now the auth code is dialed and then the number, still have to lead with the AC1 or “9”.

If they forget and dial the number first, they should get a series of tones/beeps, once they hear this they should enter their Auth Code for the call to be processed.
