I'm trying to create a donut shaped logo with a transparent middle so you see thru it. I'd like the donut part to be black and the middle to be transparent. I've tried just about everything to make this work, but I can't seem to get it right. Any suggestions welcomed. Thanks!

how about this,

1. Create a color circle (whatever size) then create a similar one about 70% smaller and place it in the middle of the big one (make sure your canvas is trasparent)

2. Click on large circle first, hold shift and click on the second circle.

3. Click on Modify, select Combine Path, then select "Punch" and you should have what you need. (if I understand it correctly)

Let me know if that's what you mean.
