I'm not sure if this is the place for my question... but could anyone help on setting up "auto attendant" with the old Nortel Venture 3-line analog phone system?

We used to use voice mail service from our phone service provider but want to use auto attendant feature instead. We have 8 venture phones, 1 with answering device/auto attendant features, 7 regular venture phones. I thought we could just use the phone with answering device to set up Auto Attendant, then use it to direct calls to all phones. I've read the user manual and already set up the mailboxes, enabled the auto attendant option, recorded greetings for each mailbox, but when the phone rings, it still goes to the voice mail from our service provider (after 4 rings). What should I do?

Thanks for any directions!

Make sure the number of rings before answer in venture is less than your SP. Some SP let you do it yourself *92 can disable the CFNA at the SP. You might have to call your SP to lengthen the delay if you can't lower the Venture phone.

Call your provider and have them turn it off or make the ring count higher.

I thought auto attendant would pick up the call as soon as the phone rings, no? Anyway I called the SP and they've up'ed the ring count to 6 for their voice mail. But the auto attendant still doesn't kick in after 6 rings. Is there any more set up that I should do?

Thanks.

Option 37 is the number of rings before answer.
