Hey,

I just finished developing a new report with around 50 columns in my reports. Everything works fine in Crystal Reports (Crystal report limit to 36 inches for width). However, when I try to view my report in Inforview. It has been cutting off the page. Can you please help me to expand CrystalView in Inforview so that I can view my complete report? In Inforview, the width is shorter than what I have (36 inches) in Crystal Reports.

Thanks a lot!
Tony

Which viewer are you using in InfoView - DHTML, Advanced DHTML, Java, or ActiveX? Play with the different viewers to see what works best. In particular, if you're using the DHTML viewer (default for InfoView) there are some quirks and limitations that might cause this type of issue.

If one of the other viewers works, then users of this report will have to change their preferences to use that viewer. It's not the best solution in the world, but I don't know of any other way of doing it.

Also, what version InfoView are you running?

Hi Hilfy,

Thanks for writing.
I am using Advanced DHTML. I guess there is limitation to that. I am trying to switch to different viewers and I got the same result. However, when I export to excel, I got my whole completed report. But when I try to export in PDF filei It got cutoff just like Crystalviewer.

Thanks a lot Hilfy.

I've run into the same issue a year ago. The rpt in Infoview needed to about 48" wide. It was never printed, but did export to Excel just fine.

Try setting the printer to the Microsoft Office Document Image Writer. This will give unlimited sizes for the rpt.

Hi Samiam07,

Thanks. Would you please tell me where to set the printer to Microsoft Office Document Image Write (MODIW)? In Crystal Reports, Central Management Console or InfoView? I check in Crystal Reports, it is already in MODIW. Check in CMC for Printer Setup, it is only set up for Custom Size and I got the same result. When I press Print in Infoview, it only exports to PDF files and i check Print Setup in PDF, it is already in MODIW.

How did you change that worked for you?

Thanks,
Tony

Is MODIW installed on the server where the CMS is located? Or on the webserver where InfoView is located? If not, that could be what's causing your problem.

I went to CMC, then under Server, I found .CMS but how to check if MODIW installed? while printing in Inforview I see MODIW and also under Print Option. I am not sure how to check if MODIW is installed since I am still new to this company.

You would configure the report to use MODIW in the Crystal Report itself and then publish it.

You see MODIW as an option because it has been installed as a printer on your workstation. However, if it is not also installed as a printer option on the physical server where the report is published, setting it in the report probably won't make any difference in how the report is displayed because the server won't know how to render it for that printer.

Hi hilfy,

Yes, MODIW is in printer option. I was able to setup Paper size in custom size. Everything works great in Crystal Reports, and the max width I can have for Custom Size is 36''. However, when I publish on inforview, using Advance DHTML viewer, the page does not display correctly, being cutoff even though I can scoll up and across like 36 inches, but it actually display about paper size.

I was able to see MODIW and I believe it was already installed. CrystalViewer only displays when I do Page Setup like "legal" in Crystal Reports and it is up to 14 inches width, but in Custom Size it does not display correctly.

I was able to export data into excel and it is fine. However, it might not be good idea if I have huge data, Excel might crash. User likes to be able to view the whole report in Inforview.

Thanks a lot,

I think you're probably out of luck. You might want to try contacting Business Objects tech support - if your company has a support contract with them. If you're not on the list of folks who can contact BO for support (standard suppport allows 3 folks to access the case management software) you'll need to find out who is.

Well, I found a trick to display this huge report and it sounds weird but it works just fine. I did it by going to "intert image", I took any image and drag to my report, minimize the height as much as possible and then expand image width so that image size overlap to next page and keep extend it until I can see all my columns then put that image on page footer then supress it so it will not display on my report.

Bascially, image width will goes as far as it reaches to other pages. It works as Crosstab when crosstab has lots of columns and you will see the lines divide each pages.
