I have a .tmp file in WINNT/Temp that is constantly increasing. It increases to the point that it almost fills up my c:drive; but it doesn't fill up the hard drive because at about 250mb remaining on the hard drive it resets back to the amount of free hard drive space I actually have, which is about 2.5GB's. It does this looping continually. I can actually see the .tmp files increasing every time I refresh the screen. I've scanned all of my drives many times over with my antivirus program and no viruses are detected. I've tried to delete and rename this .tmp file but it will not allow me. Right now the file is name tmp9d.tmp; the file name changes every time I restart and everytime it resets itself when it hit 250mb of hard drive space remaining.

Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this? If so, do you know how to fix it?

That sure does sound weird. Have you checked Task Manager to see what processes are ACTIVELY consuming resources while the temp file is being written to?

You could start shutting down "optional" services 1 at a time and see if and when the file stops being written to.

Have you run any spyware removal programs? (SpyBot S&D for example)
