A client cant access a network database, and i know it is to do with somesort of name to IP resolution and normally i can diagnose and fix it very quickly, but this is bugging me.

I can ping by name and IP, tracert, browse all over the place. Everything seems normal, but i know it isn't.

The diagnostic software i use found this

--Warning : Unable to resolve server name via Winsock Name Resolution API

How's NetBIOS resolution solved?
Many applications that run under Windows are using such a calls.
Check if it is ok. Have you WINS? Is it hapend on a single PC? Check IP settings for that PC in that case. Is it using LMHOST? Is it check? Have you check there (if it is W-NT)" Use DNS for WINS resolution"?
