Greetings All,

Our work place has recently decided to do a LAN upgrade.
We have a few 2950T-24s and some other cisco switches.

I am having trouble stacking 2 Cisco 2950T-24 using the 10/100/1000 BaseT ports.
I thought u could just use a straight through cable and plug them in.

Does anybody know how to Stack two Cisco 2950T-24 together?

Any help would be very much appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Cheers

You will need to use a cross over cable.

Thanks mate for the suggestion, i have tried that but that does not work.

From a 1000BaseT on one 2950T-24 to a 10/100BaseT port on the other switch, the cross-over works fine. But with the same Gigabit ports, the cross over cable does not work.

Do we need to do some software config on the switch Running Config?

Cheers

Try something like this, which I have just pasted off one of my switches:

interface GigabitEthernet0/1
description Link to SH-FFCR-CS002
duplex full
speed 100
switchport mode trunk

Greetings Andy,

Thank you for your contribution, much appreciated.

However, is that using the two 2950T-24 switch with the two GigaEthernet ports on the switch.

So that config on each switches G0/1 port and using a crossover cable?

I tried everything with the two switches, stacking the 2950T-24 with each other seems impossible. There is no mention at all from the Cisco website about doing something like that. Only from the GigaEthernet ports to the GBICs but not to another 1000BaseT port

Cheers
