Help - server wont install

I am trying to install a new server. I have a 3com 3c9058tx
nic card. when I get to select a network card I pick 3com fast ethernet xl slot 2 it tells me it will load 3c90X.lan and off we go. then i get an error message that it failed to load. I know the nic card is good.

any help would be appreciated

First off, what version of NetWare are you installing, NetWare v5.0 or NetWare v5.1?

When you get to the point of the install for NetWork adapters, does the install process automatically detect the 3Com Adapter?

Also, go to the 3COM Support website and look at their Downloads area. see if the kind of NIC you have actually has NetWare v5.x drivers available. Thats one quick and easy way to see if your NIC is even supported by NetWare v5.x.

it's 5.0 and this is a rebuild. I was using this nic in the original server that crashed, I just want to do basic install and load backup exec and restore from tape. this nic problem looked like my last hurdle.

Check the 3Com Support website for information regarding the correct driver for the NIC you have when its used with NetWare v5.0.

Compare what you seeon the site tgo what are trying to install. You may have better luck with the downl;oadable driver from 3Com.

Tried that, 3com has 2 sets of drivers tried both they start to load and crash.

And you are sure that the Drivers that you downloaded are specifically for NetWare v5.0? Just making sure.

I was able to load the drivers and the server came up. I then loaded backup exec. and when I go to run exec, it asks me for user and password.
the only user I set up was admin durring the install but exec wont accept that user.
