HI all

I need some advice in selecting a new notebook for editing large (100MB+) images in Photoshop. I am currently using a toshiba with a PIII 1.1Ghz processor and am planning to upgrade in the next few weeks. I already know I want a powerful P4 at least 2.2Ghz, and I know I need lots of RAM, as much as possible. But what I really need is advice on the type of LCD and graphics chip to look for. I realize that an LCD is not as good as a CRT, but I have no options, not even an external CRT. My cabin space is too small, and also I lug all this stuff across the continent about once every few months, so an external monitor is out of the question. So, if anyone out there has had any experience with a specific LCD type, or graphics chip to look for in a laptop, or a specific brand of laptop, I would very much appreciate your input. Also I should note that I will be buying PC and not Mac, It's just what I know!

Thanks in advance

If you want to make the step then go Apple and get a 17" PowerBook

Or, if you want to stay PC then make sure that you get a notebook with the most RAM that you can fine and alot of free HDD space. If you get a notebook with a 40G HDD then try not to fill it up. PS likes free disk space and RAM.

have been working on the laptop of a friend of mine for a couple of weeks: 3,06 GHz
512MB Ram
120 GB HDD
ATI Mobility Radeon 128 MB graphic chip

Worked really well and the display is huge!
costs about 2000 € at the moment as far as i know
