HELP! :Secondary IDE not functioning properly

I have CDRW as the master IDE drive on the secondary IDE slot...tried to install a removable HDD drive as the slave drive...problems occurs from here....BIOS canot detect the secondary IDE slot devices...but will works when is only one of the is drive is connected to the slot ( either the CDRW or the HDD)...can someone please help me to solve this problem?...the motherboard i am using is Abit KT7Awith the latest BIOS...thank you

make sure the removable hard drive is jumpered to slave.Or you could jumper the CD-RW as slave.If the HDD is set as master then the two conflict and only one is seen.
