That is news to me as well, Which file needs downloading form Avaya?
as far as I knew handsets "Bricked" in this way were not field recoverable.

Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear

You need to upgrade to the latest version before it is bricked.
When it is bricked it keeps rebooting so you cannot fix them.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

ok I know that the downgraded handsest are not truly bricked, just all have the same mac address rendering them unuseable if you have more than 1 per-site.
I did not know there was anyway to recover from the problem (ie reset the MAC address)
if anyone can point me in the direction fo the document drozhel refers to it would be apreciated ( stars up for grabs here)

IPGuru, this is indeed a different problem and they made a fix but that fix could brick the phones when you downgrade them :)
But the MAC address needs to be changed by a repair, you cannot undo this by upgrading them as far as i know.
When you have one you could try and let us know :)
