Modem Setup for S8700/S8500/S8300

1. From ‘dadmin' or 'craft' login set up a remote login on multivantage.
Login>donna1 password>donna123
2. On your pc click on start, programs, accessories, communications, dial-up
Networking.
3. The install wizard comes up and you step through configuring the modem connnection. Under the ‘General Tab’ for this connection make the speed 115200. Be sure:
Data bits=8
Parity=none
Stop bits=1
4. In options tab, make sure ‘Bring up terminal window after dialing” is
checked.
5. Exit out of the modem config and put in phone number to dial. Leave
login and password blank.
6. Now click on connect, a post dial window should appear and you should
have a login prompt.
7. Login as donna1 password donna123 (or whatever you have for a login)
8. As soon as you see garbage on the screen, click continue or done. The
Modem will now negotiate a ppp connection.
9. After the ppp connection is complete, you can ping server using 10.1.0.1
To find this address in linux: cd /etc/ppp/ipaddrs
10. Start ASA, do a New Switch, follow the wizard and put ip address in of
active server, connect to switch when wizard finishes.

To create a local login for use on the SAMP:
1. On the host, type rmbuseradd login and press Enter where login is the unique login
name.
2. Type rmbpasswd login and press Enter where login is the unique login name.
The system responds with Enter password.
3. Type the new password and press Enter.
The system responds with Re-enter the password.
4. Type the new password and press Enter.
Changing a local login to a remote login
To change a local login to a remote login:
1. On the host, type rmbusermod -P y login and press Enter where login is the unique
login name.
Changing a remote login to a local login
To change a remote login to a local login:
1. On the host, type rmbusermod -P n login and press Enter where login is the unique
login name.
Removing a login from the SAMP
To remove a login from the SAMP:
1. On the host, type rmbuserdel login and press Enter where login is the unique login
name.

The s8500b is different than a regular s8500. You no longer use the 'after dial terminal' to login, instead all you have to do is put in your login and password before you dial and connect like you would a standard PPP RAS connection.

Then if you want to log into the SAMP, use ASA or another terminal emulator program and the login and password that bernycat discribed. While connected to the SAMP, you can telnet to the s8500b as well. You will need to type ping my-samp to find the internal IP address that is used to communicate between the s8500b and the SAMP.

Thanks all ^_^
I can login to CM2.2 via modem.

Thanks all again
